Row, row, row your boat….

Hydro Thunder Hurricane, the spiritual sequel to the 1999 release Hydro Thunder, is a nitro drinking, speed boat racing, arcade styled game that certainly pulls no punches. We have the arcade styled soundtrack, vivid and brightly coloured boats and obnoxious voice over’s that we have all come to love from our arcade days. But will Hydro Thunder Hurricane’s transition to the next gen market, fair as well as After Burner Climax?

It’s a kind of magic.

The Lego game franchise has become a very popular film-based series covering Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones (twice) and now Harry Potter. Of course the beauty of the Harry Potter films was how they appealed to both a younger and older audience, something the Lego games have also managed so far. A winning combination then surely?

Everyone knows Transformers thanks to the two films that have been released in the past years, however the recent tie in games that have been released have not been such a success. Therefore when we heard that a third game was coming out, I have to say that I was a little put off.  However High Moon have released a game that has to go down as a much play or a must own game.  The game is a third person shooter, which is fast paced action with lots of action happening on screen.

Risky Business

Everyone loves Risk at a base level, but only playing the game on occasion can leave the casual player feeling lost and baffled by some of the rules and intricacies of the game, so bringing this title to the online market was always going to be a challenge. The same old song and dance.

The original Crackdown was somewhat of a surprise release for many. Once announced that the game was to be bundled with a much sought after Halo 3 Beta key, it gave the impression that Microsoft had serious fears about Crackdown, and as such by bundling it with such an elusive key would guarantee great sales. However their fears were unwarranted, and much to everyone’s surprise, Crackdown was a fantastic game with an addictive undertone of orb collecting that got everyone hooked. So what have Ruffian Games delivered with the sequel?

SBK X Review

Half the wheels, double the challenge.

As a fan of motorsport it occurred to me very recently, when I came to review SBK X in fact, that all of my interest lay in racing on four wheels. Rallying, Touring Cars and F1 all maintain my interest on a regular basis throughout the year, but Superbikes is one of those sports that I’ve never given much time to. But having spent some time on two wheels racing at breakneck speeds round some of the world’s most challenging circuits, would SBK X persuade me to add the Superbike World Championship to my list of sports to follow?

And so we have another one of these band centric music rhythm games, this time following Green Day. And while these games seem to offer a “more of the same” type feel to them, they’re always worth a bash to see if anything new has been unearthed that could possibly make its way onto Rock Band 3.

When I was a young there was a television show on that was called Charlie Brown and Snoopy, and then later came a programme called Peanuts that introduced us to Charlie Brown and all of his friends. All these friends would talk to Snoopy who was an intelligent beagle. Using this approach Smart Bomb Interactive have created a game WW1 flying dogfighting game with Snoopy as the lead character, but accompanied by the rest of the gang.
